CIIE 2026 Hotels: Hongqiao or Central Shanghai?

For CIIE 2026, start by comparing hotels around the National Exhibition and Convention Center and the Hongqiao area. A central Shanghai base can suit visitors with city meetings, but check the complete daily route to the venue. Overseas professional visitor access is November 6–10, even though the overall expo is November 5–10. CIIE is not at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong.

The overall CIIE edition is November 5–10, but question 8 of the organizer’s overseas professional visitor FAQ specifies November 6–10 for those visitors. Do not assume a standard overseas professional visitor credential admits you on November 5. Check the dates shown on your own credential before selecting hotel nights. For a November 6 first visit, a November 5 arrival night may suit your itinerary; it is not an admission guarantee.

These are areas to compare, not a ranking of hotels or a claim that a neighborhood is cheapest. Check current room availability and the complete trip to your exhibition gate.

Hongqiao and Pudong are different hotel decisions
Shanghai hosts exhibitions at several large venues. Copy the official CIIE venue name into your map and booking notes: National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Do not choose a property solely because it advertises proximity to a Shanghai expo center. Match the actual venue address, your entry gate and your daily meeting locations.
Compare the full cost of your exhibition stay
Use this decision rule: room total + mandatory taxes and fees + daily transport + the cost of any hotel move. Then judge whether the time saved is worth a higher room price. A low nightly price alone does not establish the best value for an exhibition trip.
- Compare the same dates, guest count, room type and cancellation deadline on each platform.
- Check the hotel address against your exact venue and gate on a current map. Include walking, transfers and the return journey.
- Ask the property to confirm passport check-in, late arrival, deposits and payment methods in writing.
- Save the Chinese hotel address and reservation offline. Do not assume a shuttle exists unless the property confirms dates, stops and booking requirements.
Before and after the event
Allow time for your actual arrival and departure arrangements rather than booking only the exhibition dates. A flexible rate can help when your appointment schedule is still changing.
For a leisure extension after November 10, decide whether staying near the exhibition still suits your plans. Compare the cost and time of moving closer to your intended sights with extending your current room. Confirm luggage storage and the next property’s check-in window before splitting the stay.

Does booking a hotel give me admission to CIIE?
No. Accommodation and exhibition admission are separate arrangements. Check the official overseas professional visitor registration process and your eligibility directly with the organizer before making non-refundable travel commitments.
Can overseas professional visitors attend CIIE on November 5?
The organizer lists November 6–10, 2026, for overseas professional visitor visits, although the overall expo is November 5–10. Follow your own credential conditions and organizer confirmation. Complete advance registration; the FAQ says regular on-site registration is unavailable.
